Aam Aadmi Party chides govt for supporting Sanatan Sanstha

Panaji

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday lashed out at the government for not taking a stand against the activities of the Sanatan Sanstha which operates from Ramnathi, Ponda. After an India Today expose a few days ago, AAP expressed serious concerns about ministers in Goa pressuring the police force not to act against the Sanstha.

Convenor of the AAP in Goa, Elvis Gomes, pointed out that it was PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar’s wife who was involved with the Sanatan Sanstha, which was what made Dhavalikar pressure police officers not to take any firm action against the group.

“What happened after the police gave intelligence inputs on the Sanstha?” demanded Gomes.

“Dhavalikar is putting pressure on the police which is why investigations are getting derailed,” he said.

Gomes also said that timely action needed to be taken to arrest divisive forces within the State.

The AAP also demanded that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) step in to intervene since Goa police have confirmed political interference in Sanathan investigations.

Gomes added that the Opposition Congress would not take up the matter even though it was a serious one because they were looking at Dhavalikar as a potential candidate to form the government.

Meanwhile, AAP General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar asked why the Director General of Police was not intervening after the inputs given by police officers.

He further demanded a ban on the Sanstha saying, “If the government can ban the entry of Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik, what is the hurdle in banning Sanatan?”
