PANAJI
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has formed a three-member team to start alliance talks with Opposition parties ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections. The team will be led by State president Valmiki Naik and will include working president Gerson Gomes and organisation secretary Prashant Naik.
At a press conference in Panaji, Naik said the 2027 election will be an ideological fight to “save Goa”, calling for unity among all anti-BJP forces. He said public anger against the BJP government is growing and warned that Goa cannot afford another fractured mandate. He added that the next government should have at least 35 MLAs to ensure stability and avoid defections.
AAP MLA from Velim, Cruz Silva, also backed the call for unity, saying personal ambitions must not override Goa’s future. He urged Opposition parties to come together to protect the State. Silva alleged that Goa’s land, forests and rivers are under threat and accused the BJP of failing to protect the State’s identity and resources. He also called for reducing the BJP to single digits in the next election.
AAP leaders said they aim to form a united Opposition government to reverse what they called damage caused by the BJP, and to bring in people-focused policies while protecting Goa’s identity.
