On the lines of the successful mohalla clinics introduced by the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi, the the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday organised a ‘Vaddo Clinic’ in the state, beginning with Cuncolim, the home constituency of AAP state convenor Elvis Gomes.
While the vaddo clinic conducted a camp for the common man at Guirdolim village, a part of Cuncolim constituency, Elvis Gomes told The Goan that the party will establish such vaddo clinics across Goa once the party comes to power in the state.
“There’s no politics behind holding these vaddo clinics. Today, we have only given a projection and a picture to the people what these mohalla or vaddo clinics will offer to the people of Goa when the AAP government comes to power in the state,” he said.
According to Gomes, the objective was simple. “Vaddo or mohalla clinics are intended to take the healthcare to the people. We feel that basic health care should be made available to the people right in their village. No villager should be made to go to the towns and cities for medical care. This is what the AAP government has done in Delhi and the same will be established here in Goa when we come to power here,” he added.
The vaddo clinics will also convey a message to the people at large that AAP is committed to the welfare of the citizens in all fields, be it power, health, water supply, etc.
“We want to reassure our people that we will focus on these basic issues and work in these sectors,” Elvis said.
People who turned up for the vaddo clinics were provided a host of facilities, including ECG, blood pressure measurement and advice relating to skin, orthopedic, gynecology, etc.
“After a certain age, every citizen should undergo some mandatory tests. People might think they are healthy, but inside they might be suffering from some ailments, which can be detected early at the vaddo clinics,” he added.
