Several residents of Sancoale village agitated on Sunday demanding that there should be one Mass at the Sanctuary site during the feast of St

Joseph Vaz.

Several Hindu residents led by Former VP Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar were also part of the agitating

residents.

One resident Austinho Muniz said that villagers only wanted that one mass be held for the villagers at the Sanctuary site during the feast of St Joseph Vaz.

“We want all Goans to understand our demands so that we can claim our rights for the mass at the Sanctuary site during the feast. We request that the Sanctuary site, which is linked to the life of St Joseph Vaz be kept open during the feast and that at least one Mass is celebrated here on teh occasion,”  said Moniz

Former Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar said that the villagers who were old could not walk all the way to the new site for the feast of St Joseph Vaz.

All the Hindu residents of Sancoale would stand together with the Christian residents in their demand for a Mass at the Sanctuary site, he added.

“We have grown up seeing the feast at this site but the feast has now been moved to a different location. Today the elderly and senior citizens are demanding to have a mass here because they cannot walk all the way to the new site. The villagers should not be hurt as they are only demanding one Mass here at the Sanctuary site. I appeal to the Archbishop to listen to the demands of these villagers and resolve their issues. We Hindus are also with the villagers in the fight and we will even come on the roads to support our fellow villagers who are demanding a Mass at the Sanctuary site,” said Borkar.
