A group of Aam Aadmi Party volunteers led by convenor Elvis Gomes took the PWD Highways Division at Fatorda by surprise questioning about the proposed traffic diversion plan from Verna to Cortalim via Sancoale and demanding that such a plan should not even be thought about.
While the PWD lady official feigned ignorance about the proposed traffic diversion saying her office has not received any communication, Executive Engineer, Laxmikant Naik said no final decision has been taken by the department till date.
“The PWD officials didn’t seem to have the right answers and were unable to throw light on it. We have asked them pointed questions and demanded that instead of selective leakage to media, they should officially come clean on what the whole proposal is about,” said Gomes while briefing media after the meeting.
He further said that the whole thing smells of a scam as no such proposal was there in the consultant’s report and further informed that in case they tried to move with such a proposal, it will have consequences beyond measure and the PWD will have to take responsibility for a fiasco staring in the face.
Meanwhile Gomes also took on the PWD for the failure to control dust pollution along the construction route and said that the common man who doesn’t travel in air conditioned vehicles and the traffic constables on duty are bearing the worst from this negligence of the contractor who was termed as the son-in-law of the present government.
Gomes pointed out to two corroded jeeps in junk condition lying in the PWD compound to draw a parallel between the present state
of the government and the opposition.
