PANAJITaking inspiration from theDelhi government, the Goaunit of the AamAadmi partywill now provide pulse oximetersto Covid-affected peoplein the state.On Monday, the partylaunched the ‘Oxi-Mitra’ oximeterdrive at the hands ofDr Mariano Godinho formermedical officer with the governmentof Goa who demonstratedthe procedure whichinvolved sanitisation of thefinger before and after use,use of gloves as well as faceshield so as to minimise riskto the volunteer.AAP convenor Elvis Gomessaid that the common manis not
getting the desired attentionof an already overstretchedmedical system thatthe Pramod Sawantgovernmenthad failed to strengthenand added that as the partycould not leave the ‘aam aadmi’of Goa at the mercy of anunresponsive establishment,they decided to provide oximetersto the people.“We urge every Goan whohas fever, breathlessness orcough, to connect with theirdesignated Oximitra who willcome and check their oxygenlevel. If their oxygen level islow they will also help themget further medical attention,”said Dr Godinho.“Are we expected to just sitby and watch the daily lossof lives of our fellow Goans?Instead of taking assistancefrom all quarters, the governmentis getting embeddedin corruption as highlightedby the media,” said Gomesstating that from the dailybriefings by the CM to a bulletinfull of inconsistencies, itshowed that the governmenthad given transparency acomplete go by.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------MARGAO: AAP convenor Chief Elvis Gomes on Monday saidthat Cuncolim has been seeing aspurt in the number of Covidcases as the administration has failed to contain the spreadamong those working in the industrial area.Saying he would be compelled to agitate before the Collectorateif no action was taken, Gomes added, “The trend wasvisible. Industrial workers were allowed to move freely in thelocality. I had drawnattention of the collector, IDC and eventhe Industry Association. Even a swab collection facility hasnotbeen provided as yet.”While appreciating the role of the Verna Industry Associationwhich established a Covid care facility in the IDC precinctswhere swab collection andtesting was provided, he said, “IfVerna could do it, why couldn’t the Cuncolim Industry Associationcome forward and partner with thegovernment?”
