On the occasion of the Aam Aadmi Party completing six years, AAP Convenor for Goa, Elvis Gomes, on Sunday wrote an open letter to volunteers in the state.
In light of the current political situation in Goa, Gomes called for doubling efforts to reach out and tell the people, and the youth in particular, without making slaves out of people by giving cash or inducements for votes even if AAP had to forego such votes.
Gomes told AAP volunteers that the real cause for celebration was the enthusiasm of the volunteers through six years in the face of various ups and downs.
Gomes told the volunteers that he had spent the last few days in Delhi accompanying educationists from Goa who wanted to get a first hand feel of the Delhi education revolution. “It was such a euphoric feeling to note how young back-end boys and girls were shaping up ideas about the future of the youth and their city and how policies were getting shaped up by them,” Gomes said in the letter. “It shows that the AAP Government works differently from others and has been able to deliver on a host of promises made, within the shortest time.”
Meanwhile, the party’s South Goa Convener Rodney Almeida said, “Though AAP did not win a single seat in the last Assembly elections, the diehard volunteers did not give up. They marched to the remotest villages of Goa to sensitise and better the lives of the underprivileged and marginalised, to the corridors of government.”
