AAP launches State-wide ‘Women Safety Dialogue’

MARGAO
Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas on Saturday announced the launch of a State-wide Women Safety Dialogue campaign across the 40 constituencies in the wake of increasing atrocities against women.

This campaign, spearheaded by the AAP Women Wing and coordinated by Capt Venzy, aims to empower women and create a safer environment in the State.

The campaign will kick off from Benaulim on August 19, followed by Velim on August 20. Venzy said AAP will collaborate with alliance parties and opposition MLAs to extend the dialogues to their constituencies, addressing women’s safety concerns.

Criticising the BJP government for failing to ensure a safe environment for women in the State, Venzy announced the appointment of a female representative in each village to address challenges faced by women.

AAP Goa State President, Adv Amit Palekar, highlighted the urgent need for all political parties to unite against the rising incidents of sexual assault, rape, and violence against women across India. He emphasised the importance of creating safer workplaces in both government and private sectors. Palekar also called for unresolved cases in Goa to be handed over to the CBI if the local police fail to deliver justice.

Expressing concern over the growing heinous crimes against women, AAP Velim MLA Cruz Silva advocated for capital punishment to serve as a deterrent.

AAP Goa held a protest on Saturday in response to the brutal rape and murder of a second-year trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, demanding justice for the victim and severe punishment for the culprits.
