Aam Aadmi Party on Friday declared that if voted to power in 2017, its 'AAP Yuvak' scheme will grant an unemployment allowance of Rs 5,000 to youth above the age of 21 years while also promising to double the budget for the Griha Aadhar, BJP's popular flagship inflation allowance scheme presently pegged at Rs 1,200 month.
AAP Goa State convenor and its chief ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes released the party's social welfare schemes which it seeks to implement upon assuming power in 2017.
Promising financial assistance to all, AAP has also assured to do away with the 'one family, one scheme' clause. The schemes are divided broadly into eight categories for girl child, young women, unemployed youth, women, senior citizens, physically disabled and HIV/Aids patients.
In addition to the two prominent assurances, AAP also aspires to double the outlay for Mamta scheme to Rs 50,000 to each girl, double the Laadli Laxmi benefits and a 50 per cent increase in Data and Social Security benefits. Besides, the monthly assistance to those with below 90 per cent disability will be hiked to Rs 3,500 and to Rs 10,000 to those with over 90 per cent disability.
AAP also disclosed it's intention to call on Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to seek answers on the alleged harassment of its hoarding vendors by the police.
PANAJI: Terming the summons by Anti Corruption Branch of the Directorate of Vigilance as 'sheer harassment', Gomes said that the timing of the summons speaks volumes about the intent of the present ruling party.
"Harassment from the government started the day I resigned from service. I have already challenged the summons in the court," he said. Gomes reiterated that he was appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Goa Housing Board two months after the board’s decision to drop the land acquisition process in Margao. "BJP and Congress are involved in that scam. I dare the government to scrutinise the land acquisition processes which were initiated and dropped over the last ten years. BJP and Congress have received kickbacks," Gomes alleged.
