PANAJI
The Aam Aadmi Party’s Rozgar Yatra hit the St Andre constituency on Saturday with the rally starting at Curca Bridge and then with meetings at Curca Ground, Batim and Azzossim, according to a press note.
The booth level meetings were attended by hundreds of residents who also got themselves registered for Kejriwal’s job guarantee, states AAP in the press note.
The St Andre Yatra was flagged by Namdev Mashelkar, AAP Goa St Andre Assembly Incharge.
During the last elections, the sitting MLA Francisco Silveira betrayed the trust of the people by switching over sides from the Congress to the BJP. Even though today he is in the ruling party, no development has happened. The youth of St Andre still don’t have jobs. In St Andre the rate of unemployment is high and the MLA has also not provided any support to the traditional occupations, especially during the pandemic, stated AAP in the press note.
Most of the residents who are taxikars have lost their livelihood and have received zero support from the government during the pandemic. These families appreciate the initiative of Rs 5,000 as support which Kejriwal has announced for those impacted by the tourism slowdown. The youth too are impressed by Kejriwal’s idea of Skill University, AAP further states.
“The youth of St Andre are very dejected as the MLA here has not cared about their employment. Money power is the only way one can get government employment. AAP will ensure that there will be no distinction and will provide equal opportunities to all Goenkars,” Namdev Mashelkar said in the press note.
