Anthony Rodrigues was recently elected unopposed as the president of the University and College Teachers Association, Goa (UCTAG) and will head the body of teachers of colleges affiliated to the Goa University for the next term.
Professor Dr Rodrigues was elected unopposed as the president of the executive panel. According to the results announced by the returning officer, Dr Padmaja Kamat was elected vice-president, Roy Gomes as secretary, Anthony D’Souza as treasurer and Kunal Borkar as joint secretary. The newly elected executive panel also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai who is the Chancellor of Goa University.
A press release issued by the Secretary said the team briefed Pillai on Goa’s educational scenario, NEP 2020, the challenges in Higher Education and their likely solutions. “The Governor expressed his wholehearted support and cooperation for the development of teachers and Higher Education in Goa,” Gomes said in a press release.
He said, UCTAG will introduce life membership and improve its membership, organize regular academic conferences, seminars, workshops on API, duties and responsibility, effective teaching, career advancement scheme, foreign collaborations to improve the bonding between the teacher and the taught and with all India federation of University & college teacher’ organization (AIFUCTO).
