Act on Inquiry Commission report: GFP to govt

The spokesperson of Goa Forward Party, Adv Tanvir Khatib, has urged the government to act on the interim report submitted by the Inquiry Commission constituted by the government to probe the alleged irregularities in the GMC and also to table the report in the upcoming assembly session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
A press release issued by Adv Khatib states that the spokesperson of Goa Forward Party, Durgadas Kamat has deposed on June 7, before the Inquiry Commission. Adv Khatib said that Kamat has given out details to the Inquiry Commision in an affidavit and has stood by what he has mentioned to the Deputy Chief Minister in a letter on April 15, with almost 27 points.
Quoting reports in a section of the media about the submission of this report to the government, he urged the government to act on priority on the report.
“It has been further noticed by Goa Forward that more than six to seven 108 vehicles are getting corroded in the vicinity of Goa Medical College. Breast cancer screening vehicles are getting corroded outside the Hospicio Hospital in Margao. This clearly shows the attitude of the government towards the health sector in the State,” Adv Khatib mentions.
He further states that recently an IAS officer was appointed as administrator to look into the affairs of GMC. “But it is unfortunate that the administrator's office has been set up in the Secretrariat at Porvorim. How will patients or citizens who have grievances reach the administrator? This is just an eye wash which is being done by the government. Administrator's office has to be set up in the complex of Goa Medical College itself,” adds the press release.
Trees uproot in Salcete

MARGAO: Gusty winds accompanied by intermittent showers heralding the outbreak of South West monsoons in Goa uprooted many trees in different villages. However, no major damage to property nor any loss of life was reported in these incidents.
Fire officials were kept on their toes throughout the day as they had to rush from one place to another to cut and clear the debris of uprooted trees.
According to fire officials, cases of uprooted trees were reported from Pajifond (Margao), Colva, Jacknibandh (Navelim) and Cuncolim. In Colva, an uprooted tree damaged a compound wall. Fire officials pegged the damages at Rs 5,000.
Fire at Majorda resort

A fire broke out at a laundry of a starred resort located at Majorda thereby damaging a part of the laundry and burning some of the wardrobe and bed linen that was in it.
According to preliminary reports obtained from fire officials, a total of three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to get the fire under control. Fire officials pegged the damages in the preliminary stage at Rs 20,000.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
