While reiterating its displeasure over the inauguration of the ‘Government Hospital and Research Centre (GMC link) at Tuem on February 2 even though all facilities are yet to be set up, the Tuem Hospital Action Committee has decided to postpone its indefinite hunger strike.
Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Adv Prasad Shahapurkar said the committee had been demanding that the hospital be started only after all facilities are provided.
“The hospital will be inaugurated on February 2 but only OPD services will start and other facilities will be available only after a few months. We are not satisfied with this,” said Shahapurkar.
“The committee will not remain silent unless all facilities promised to the Tuem hospital are provided. If our demands are not met, we are ready to go on an indefinite hunger strike,” he warned.
