With the monsoons bringing alive two popular waterfalls in the village, the Gaondongrim panchayat administrator has now sought the assistance of the Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) to curb public nuisance by visitors to these waterfalls.
Gaondongrim Panchayat Administrator Pradeep Pagui has written to the Dy Collector & SDM of Canacona to depute police and take action against the youth and others who have been accused of vulgarity and obstructing traffic while they visit the two waterbodies, Bamonbudo waterfall and Gunji-Tali, in the village.
Pagui stated that many youth from Goa and Karnataka visit the Bamonbudo waterfall and Gunji-Tali located at Bhupar and Bharsa respectively every Saturday and Sunday, taking along with them sound systems and alcoholic beverages.
Pagui complained that these youth consume alcohol, play loud music, dance naked in the water and on the road, park their vehicles on the road, break bottles and cause a nuisance to local residents.
He added that villagers, especially women and elders, who pass along the route are harassed by these unruly visitors, causing anger in the village.
The Gaondongrim panchayat administrator has sought action with the deputation of police personnel to the two sites.
Copies have also been marked to Speaker and Canacona MLA, Canacona Mamlatdar, Canacona Police Inspector, Canacona Traffic Police and Excise Inspector.
