The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday submitted separate memorandums to the Quepem Mamlatdar and Quepem Police, demanding immediate action over the alleged demolition of a gaushala at Rivona. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the State.
A VHP delegation alleged that the gaushala, run by the Dhyan Foundation, was demolished by unknown persons on Wednesday night.
The organisation condemned the incident, calling it a serious attack on cow protection and the religious sentiments of the
Hindu community.
According to the VHP, the gaushala was built by the Dhyan Foundation on land belonging to the local temple authorities after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Devasthan. The organisation urged the authorities to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
In its memorandum to the Quepem Police, the VHP demanded that criminal cases be registered against those responsible, a fair and impartial investigation be carried out, the displaced cattle be protected and rehabilitated, and strict action be taken against anyone found guilty.
In the memorandum submitted to the Quepem Mamlatdar, the VHP sought a detailed inquiry into the demolition and asked the administration to take steps to prevent such incidents in future while protecting gaushalas and cattle.
Meanwhile, the Dhyan Foundation has alleged that members of the temple committee were involved in the demolition. However, the temple committee, headed by Manjunath Dukle, has strongly denied the allegation and said it had no role in the incident.
Police have registered the case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged demolition. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is continuing.
The alleged demolition of the Rivona gaushala has drawn strong reactions from several Hindu organisations and local residents, who have demanded accountability and a thorough investigation.
