The long arm of the law has caught up with this accused from Karnataka. Around 14 years after he allegedly strangulated a 45-year old person to death and later buried him inside a rented room, at Aquem-Margao, accused Parshuram Doranahalli, a native of Vijaypur district of Karnataka is now charged for the heinous murder.
The South Goa Sessions Court has framed charges against the accused in the murder case that had taken place at Aquem way back in 2008. Another accused Renuka Doranahalli, who was charged by the Margao police, has since expired.
While ordering framing of charges against the accused under Section 302 and 201 of the IPC for murder and for destroying evidence, Additional Sessions Judge, Vincent D’Silva observed “Prima facie, the materials on record clearly indicate that the accused with their bare hands strangulated Bhimappa @ Bhimsen and intentionally committed his murder as he used to harass and assault, the accused no. 2 Renuka under the influence of alcohol and further buried the dead body of the victim in the toilet cum bathroom in the said room in a bid to destroy the evidence.”
Accused Parshuram along the accused no 2, since deceased, in the year 2008, while residing in a room at Aquem-Margao with their common intention assaulted Bhimappa @ Bhimsen Kodagnoor, s/o Saibanna Kodagnoor, aged 45 years, who was residing with them and further with bare hands strangulated him and intentionally committed his murder as the Bhimappa @ Bhimsen used to harass and assault, the accused no. 2 (since deceased) under the influence of alcohol. They were further accused for burying the dead body of Bhimappa @ Bhimsen in the toilet cum bathroom in the room, in a bid to destroy the evidence and further ran away from the house and went to their native place at Budihal village, Vijayapur District of Karnataka. Accused no. 2 Renuka Doranahalli later expired.
Judge Vincent observed that the statements recorded by the Investigation Officer clearly point out to the involvement of the accused in the serious offence. “The documents namely scene of occurrence panchanama and the sketch, report of Medical Examination of skeletal remains of the deceased further corroborates their case. Prima facie, there exists sufficient and reasonable ground for framing charges. Thus, charges under Sections 302 and 201 of IPC are required to be framed against the accused,” the Judge observed.
