Congress candidate for Panaji bypoll Girish Chodankar on Saturday claimed that he enjoys the support of the people of Panaji, including BJP karyakartas.
Speaking at Congress House, Chodanar said, "BJP workers are working for change and they support me. Manohar Parrikar should convince his karyakartas first and then convince Panaji residents."
Commenting on the press briefings addressed over the last few days by coalition partners, Chodankar stated, "Parrikar has accepted his defeat and hence to salvage his sinking ‘boat' he is seeking help from big names. I am a small man. You said I will lose my deposit. Why are you then asking leaders from
outside Panaji to come and convince Panaji voters
for you."
Chodankar announced that silent voters of Panaji have found their voice and that on August 28 when the votes are counted, Parrikar will be shocked by the results.
"Sanitation, water supply. Such basic issues persist in your constituency. What have you done in 23 years?" Chodankar asked, directing his question at the
Chief Minister and BJP candidate. Meanwhile, the Congress candidate affirmed that he has received help from all 16 Congress MLAs for his
campaign and asked his political rivals to end the rumor-mongering.
