While the Parishioners have come to know about the claim made by the police that accused Francis was responsible for the desecration that took place inside the Church on August 3, 2009, they have now demanded to know the whereabouts of the tabernacle which had gone missing from the Church when the place of worship was desecrated by the miscreants.
In fact, the local residents have raised a pertinent question to the men-in-uniform, demanding to know the whereabouts of the tabernacle if accused Francis has allegedly confessed his hand in the desecration of the Church.
A Parishioner Precopio Fernandes told The Goan that the police should try to find out the whereabouts of the tabernacle if accused Francis has accepted his hand in the desecration. "The police should shed light on the tabernacle after interrogating the accused. The local Church has the keys of the tabernacle in its possession. It is now for the police to unearth the missing tabernacle from the accused," Precopio said.
When this question was posed to Quepem Sub-Divisional Police Officer, DySP Sammy Tavares, he has reconfirmed that desecration of the St Anthony Church, Cabo de Rama was the handiwork of accused Francis. However, when The Goan asked the DySP to shed light on the missing tabernacle, he said all these questions will be probed by the Cuncolim police when the police take custody of the accused for investigating into the desecration cases reported in its jurisdiction.
As already reported by The Goan last week, the Cuncolim police has a task cut out to investigate into the Cabo de Rama Church desecration to its logical conclusion since the miscreants had left handwriting on the Holy Bible, which would shed light on the involvement of accused Francis or some other miscreants in the incident.
