Acting on directives of the High Court, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has floated a tender for Rs 2.53 crore to construct a footpath and side drains from the Court Junction to District Hospital in the town.
Recently, a public interest litigation was filed in the Bombay High Court at Goa regarding the construction of footpaths along the main roads of Mapusa town. The petition claimed that the local administration had failed to make necessary provision for cyclists, pedestrians and other ease of movement when there is heavy vehicular traffic on these roads.
Following directives of the court, the MMC issued a tender for a footpath and side drain over a distance of about 1.5 kms from the Court Junction to North Goa District Hospital
“This work will be done on a priority basis. The MMC has received a grant from the government,” informed a municipal official.
