NGO Street Providence rescued a wounded man from Nepal who was seen lying outside the GMC’s super speciality block hospital for the past four days.
NGO’s chairman Donald Fernandes informed that they got a call from an MLA stating that a wounded man was lying outside the hospital and asked to do something about it.
“We then made inquiries and came to know that the man was lying on the footpath for more than four days with a wound on one of his legs,” Fernandes stated while adding that the man told that his name is Prem Thapa and that he is from Kathmandu-Nepal, and that he was working as a cook in a hotel.
“He could not tell anything about how he got wounded and how he ended up outside the GMC’s super speciality hospital,” Fernandes said.
However, Fernandes questioned the apathy of the hospital authorities who did nothing to treat the injured man. “It is an irony that despite lying injured outside the hospital, nobody thought of providing him treatment,” he stated.
The man was later taken in an ambulance from the NGO, cleaned up, and his wound treated. Fernandes said that they will take care of him till he gets better. Staff from the NGO and Agassaim police were also present during the rescue.
