Motorists travelling between Goa and Karnataka via the Keri border are not only confronted by restrictions on account of the Covid pandemic but also have to negotiate the several potholes along the stretch of highway at Keri.
According to motorists, travelling along the Goa-Karnataka road via Keri has become a major hassle given the several potholes along the route.
“This is an important road connecting Goa and Karnataka via Chorla and traffic on this route has risen sharply over the years. Despite this, authorities have failed to ensure that the road is in perfect condition. During Ganesh Chaturthi, people have had to face many problems while travelling on this road,” complained a local motorist.
According to sources, the potholes were filled by the PWD but the repair work was not done properly and as a result, the potholes have resurfaced on the road.
Locals said the highway in the area had been closed to traffic four times this year due to heavy rains.
“The government must take serious steps to ensure a permanent solution to these potholes, especially since this shortest route connecting Goa and Belagavi has become a frequently used route,” added another motorist.
