After enforcing a resolution to ban outsiders from conducting illegal tourism trade in Agonda, the Pagi community of Agonda submitted a petition to Canacona Police and accused the Pagi community of Saleri (Khola) of making frivolous complaints against some members of the Agonda Pagi community. A petition was submitted to Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas late Monday evening in the presence of Pagi community members of Agonda village, demanding action under Section 182 IPC against some members from the Pagi community of Saleri (Khola). The petitioners allege that some Pagi community members from Saleri were involved in spreading rumours that the Agonda Pagi community members had assaulted and abused some members of the Saleri Pagi community and that the Agonda Pagi community members were obstructing them from doing business activities in Agonda. They alleged that the Pagi Samaj of Saleri staged a morcha at Agonda beach and made a video viral falsely alleging they are not allowed to do fishing activities by the Agonda Pagi community, thereby defaming the Agonda Pagi community. “The complaint and viral video by the Saleri Pagi community has led to confusion in the minds of the general public and we have asked the police to verify the allegations and accusations made by the Saleri Pagi community against the Pagi community of Agonda,” informed Agonda Panch Nilesh Pagui, who accompanied the Agonda villagers at the police station late Monday evening.
