Aiming for a clean sweep: Babush

PANAJI

On a day when BJP released its manifesto, Taleigao strongman who is busy with his door-to-door campaign reiterated that BJP releasing its manifesto ahead of others would in no way dent his plans.

CCP elections will be held on March 6 barely one week from now with a three-way fight between BJP, Babush and the Congress.

“Right from day 1, I have been telling my supporters that I will win 27 seats. I continue to be confident about that. What I am trying for now is a clean sweep,” Monserrate told The Goan.

“Public meetings are not my thing. Door-to-door campaigning is the way forward. When I am meeting people personally, there is no need to have public meetings,” Monserrate said.

He claims he has already campaigned in 25 of the 30 wards and would make sure he visits the remaining before election day.

Monserrate’s campaign involves visiting each and every house within the constituency, greeting residents along with the local councillor and handing out pamphlets.

He said he isn’t worried about the BJP releasing its manifesto before him. “My manifesto will come by March 3. Once it is out you compare the three manifestos and you will know which is the best,” Babush said.

Asked about the irregular delimitation of wards Babush said while it wasn’t a problem for him, it was the voters who were complaining.

“The voters themselves do not know which ward they are in. For me it is not a problem, I will cover the areas in any case”, he said.
