With six days to go, Panaji First, backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, released its manifesto for Corporation of City of Panaji elections.
Incidentally, of the three panels contesting the elections, BJP was the first to release its manifesto with the main focus on traffic and parking, providing better facilities to Panjimites, infrastructure, waste management, better quality of life, heritage and tourism and trade and business.
The manifesto was released by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar, Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar in the presence of ‘Panaji First’ panel and party workers.
Addressing the gathering after releasing the manifesto Parrikar said, “I am proud to say that in my absence an independent team has systematically drawn a perfect election campaign because of which I can guarantee that this time we will get a majority with 21 seats.”
Stating that he has a networking in Panaji beyond the party workers, Parrikar said, “Even if any mistakes happen here I come to know. There are some who have expressed dissatisfaction but none of them have said that they will not work for the party.”
He, however, proudly said, “In some places I observed that the people are confident of winning which include Boca de Vaca, St Inez, Central Panaji, among others.”
Pointing out that most of the developmental works in Panaji have been completed during the tenure of the BJP-led government, he said, “Panaji will soon get funding under smart city mission. Also under AMRUT scheme it will get Rs 59 crore. For this, a Council with integrity needs to be elected. The workers should need to give this message to the people.”
