AITUC condoles death of ex-Guv
PANAJI: The Goa State Committee of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has condoled the death of the State's former Governor Lt General JFR Jacob (retd), who passed away at the Army Hospital in Delhi on January 13.
The press note issued here says the Lt General Jacob was a sensitive and affable statesman. As the State's Governor he kept himself fully briefed about Goa and its unique status. His administration of the State during the President's rule was above reproach.
A little known fact about his contribution is the decision in March 1999, to nationalise the triangular route: Panaji-Margao-Vasco and bring them under the service of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd.
