Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said that some areas in the constituency have been neglected and assured to provide basic necessities to the people of Aldona.

“We are here to serve the people and make sure basic necessities are provided. Over the years, there have been areas that have been neglected. People have come forward with grievances stating that works have been unattended since the last 10 years. We will work towards rectifying these issues at the earliest,” Ferreira said.

The Aldona MLA along with a team of officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), road division, conducted an inspection of the roads in the constituency.

While visiting the Pomburpa crematorium, Ferreira said that the approach to the Pomburpa crematorium was steep and dangerous and therefore unsafe.

“We need to take some action. I have requested the PWD engineers to quickly work on this so that we can have a long-term solution for the people. This requires immediate action on top priority," he said.

He also visited the Pomburpa spring following complaints from citizens regarding the neglect of the spring.

“I noticed that people have drinks here and throw bottles around. The area also needs proper illumination. The power department had ensured two light masts which are since functional, however, there is darkness in the seating areas. The toilets are also closed. I will approach the government and the GTDC to take it up on priority so that the spring can be revived and enjoyed by all,” he said.

He said this was the first in the series of inspections he would conduct and will later cover other villages including the two wards of Mapusa.
