Aldona no-trust move today

Aldona no-trust move today

MAPUSA: The no-confidence motion against Aldona Sarpanch Ursula D’Souza will be taken up in the panchayat office on Tuesday at 10.30 am.

BDO representative Sandesh Naik will be the observer.

Six panch members - Charudatta Panjikar, Sandra Rodrigues, Harish Mayekar, Ujwala Kandolkar, Jerry Noronha and Deepak Naik, have moved the no confidence motion on grounds that the sarpanch did not take members into confidence and spoke rudely to them.

The no-confidence move came less than a month as D’Souza was elected on April 12, and the no-trust motion was moved on May 9, soon after the gram sabha meeting, where people had demanded a vigilance inquiry into some controversial decisions taken during the tenure of some past sarpanchas.

The sarpanch had expressed her wish of taking action against the controversial decisions.

Some locals came out in open support of Ursula D’Souza and condemned the move by the six panch members.

They said that instability in the panchayat affected development work in the panchayat.

Sources linked the move to dethrone Ursula as she was a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.
