MARGAO
Ahead of the scheduled visit of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane to Cuncolim on Friday, a group of citizens has urged the State government to review and scrap Section 39A.
The leaders are expected to launch development projects in the constituency represented by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
At a media briefing on Wednesday, environmental activist Dr Jorson Fernandes, former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes and retired Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares expressed support for retired Justice Ferdino Rebello, who has raised concerns over land-related issues through his proposals.
They said the concerns should be addressed across Goa. Tavares urged the government to take a decision before the visit and appealed to Alemao to raise the matter.
Fernandes said the proposals aimed to protect local interests, while Gomes noted growing concerns over land use and development in the State.
Separately, Fernandes called for greater transparency in a proposed hospital project and suggested upgrading the Balli Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre to improve services.
