Ambar Timblo re-elected president of GMOEA

Ambar Timblo of the Fomento group was elected for a second consecutive biennial term as president of the Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association at its annual general meeting held on Monday.   

In a statement issued here, GMOEA secretary Glenn Kalavampara said Timblo’s term will stretch for 2019-21. Bhauvik Mazumdar was elected the honorary secretary of the association, a representative body of the mining industry in Goa, which has been witnessing turbulent years for sometime now. The industry, a crucial and significant part of Goa’s economy, is currently at a standstill following a 2018 Supreme Court order and the centre has set up a Group of Minister (GoM) to resolve the tangle.   

Kalavampara said, the following office-bearers were also elected at the AGM: Nathan R Chowghule (vice-president), Madhukar Mallya (treasurer) and Narayan Bandekar, Radha S Timblo, Suvarn Bandekar, Shivanand Salgaocar and Azad Shaw as members.   

Meanwhile, Narayan Bandekar was elected president of the Goa Mining Association at its AGM held on Friday last. Other office-bearers elected are: Prasad Keni (vice-presdient), S Y Wakhale (secretary), Bharat Rege (treasurer), Partho Banerjee, Vishwanath Malyekar, Datarraj Velingkar, Ajay Borkar, Sanjay Alberto and S V Mahale (all committee 

members).   

Madhukar Mallya, Manuel da Costa, Ashok Kudchadkar, Sunil Gharse and Dr Dinesh Velingkar have been named permanent invitees.
