As many as 150 Pilar fathers, brothers and sisters are expected to participate in a one-day theological consultation, organised by the Society of Pilar at the Pilar Theological College on October 3. The consultation, which is in response to the invitation of pope Francis to observe an extraordinary missionary month during October 2019, will deliberate on the theme, ‘giving joy and hope - opportunities in challenges of today’, states a press note.
Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai, who is also one of the eight advisers to the pope, will preside over the consultation, while archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi, archbishop Thomas Macwan of Gandhinagar, archbishop Felix Toppo of Ranchi, bishop Lawrence Pius of Dharampuri and bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, auxiliary bishop of Ranchi, will be resource persons for this consultation.
Fr Seby Mascarenhas, sfx, Superior General of the Society of Pilar, will deliver the keynote address at the consultation, which will be moderated by Fr Alarico Carvalho, sfx. The Pilar Society will follow up with a Central Assembly from October 4-11, 2019.
On November 9, the Pilar Seminary and Rachol Seminary will jointly organise another theological consultation on the theme “renewed commitment to serve India”. Dr Felix Wilfred, Dr Alan Alangaram, SJ., and Dr Prem Antony, IMS, will be the main speakers. About 150 students and professors of Rachol and Pilar seminary will participate in the event.
