ANC seizes Rs 97 lakh worth assets of Nigerian drug peddler

The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police has seized assets worth a whopping Rs 97 lakh belonging to repeat offender, Sunday Onye Lucky “ currently undergoing trial in a narcotics case.

Lucky, a 47-year-old Nigerian national, was arrested in a narcotic raid at Mollembhat in Saligao on March 22, 2022 with 64.91 grams of LSD liquid and 20.45 grams of MDMA that cost around Rs 66.95 lakh in the international market.

While the alleged drug peddler was charge-sheeted and is facing trial, the ANC also conducted a financial investigation into his assets to trace and identify the illegally acquired properties of the accused. “The inquiry revealed that the accused has movable and immovable property worth around Rs 97 lakh consisting of flats, shops, vehicle, and bank accounts which is supposedly acquired by the illegal drug trade,” said an official.

Accordingly, a financial investigation was carried out to freeze and attach proceeds of illicit drug trafficking under provisions of the NDPS Act.
