In yet another major drug bust, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police arrested three overstaying Swedish nationals for possession of a large quantity of hallucinogenic substances worth Rs 2.59 crore approx from their rented premises in Arambol.
The accused identified as Andreas Lorenzo Calic (39), Sami Antero Hilden Tanskanen (36), and Joel Emmanuel Carlstrom (33) were found in possession of LSD in both liquid and paper form, and ketamine in both liquid and powder form.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police (ANC) Sunita Sawant said that the seizure was made during a raid conducted between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm on Monday from the premises, which belongs to one Krishna Gadekar.
She revealed that the seized drugs include 24.8 grams of LSD liquid valued at Rs 2.5 crore, allegedly sourced from Amsterdam and 70 LSD paper stamps laced with the same liquid, worth Rs 7 lakh. Also recovered were 49.3 grams of ketamine liquid, valued at Rs 2.5 lakh, reportedly obtained from a local pharmacy in Siolim, and 1.5 grams of ketamine powder worth Rs 15,000. The ketamine liquid had been processed by the accused into powder form.
“The ketamine liquid is “cooked” by the accused by boiling it and solidifying the liquid into white colour ketamine powder,” she added.
All three were also found staying in India illegally, without valid visas whereas Tanskanen, was also found to be in possession of an expired passport. A separate complaint is being filed against them at Mandrem Police Station for immigration violations.
The present case has been registered under Sections 22(c), 22(b), 22(a) read with 29 of the NDPS Act at the ANC Police Station.
