MARGAO
The annual Zatrotsav of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalinkarin Devasthan will be celebrated at Fatorpa Temple from December 27.
The five days of festivities will culminate with the traditional Maharath in the wee hours of January 1.
Addressing the media, the President of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Devasthan, Kavendra Desai informed that the annual Zatrotsav will be celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety from December 27 at the Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Temple, Fatorpa.
He pointed out that Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin’s original Temple was in Cuncolim, but was later shifted to Fatorpa after the religious persecution post-1510.
“Since then, the Zatrotsav of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin is being celebrated at the Temple at Fatorpa,” he added.
Saying the stage is set for the celebration of the Zatra this year, Kavendra said all arrangements will be put in place, including a Cuncolim police outpost, fire services, sanitation and water supply arrangements in and around the Temple premises.
He requested the hawkers and vendors participating in the Zatra fair to ensure that the plastic waste is not littered around, but to help the committee in the safe disposal of the dry waste.
The Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Zatrotsav is traditionally celebrated at the Fatorpa temple with religious fervour, pomp and gaiety by the people of all walks of life, from Cuncolim and across the state and outside.
