In yet another incident, Pernem police on Thursday arrested two staff of a private bus on charges of failing to stop for mandatory Covid checks at the Patradevi check post.
According to Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi, a state-registered bus did not stop for Covid checks at about 9.15 am and was later stopped by the police staff on duty.
The bus staff, Dasarai Gaudar (26) of Margao and Shabbir Said (47) of Malad-Mumbai were arrested under Sections 269, 279, 188 of IPC. The bus has also been detained by police and further investigation is in progress.
Earlier on Tuesday, two drivers and a conductor were arrested after an interstate bus sped past the Patradevi check post in an apparent bid to escape Covid-related checks at the border.
