The highest single-day figure of 54 new cases and one death in Canacona took the total active Covid cases to a record 292 in the taluka on Saturday.

According to reports, a 52-year-old man from a micro-containment zone in Palolem died from Covid related causes.

The deceased was among five members of a family to have tested positive, prompting the South Goa collector to declare the area as a micro-containment zone on Friday. He is the 15th person to succumb to the virus in Canacona taluka.
