Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital Dr S M Bandekar stated that the new super-specialty block at GMC, which will soon be converted into Covid Hospital, will have 150 Covid ICU beds to begin with.
“The block has a capacity of 500 beds. But we will set up 150 ICU beds with oxygen to begin with and increase it as per requirement. Target is to start the facility within a week,” Dr Bandekar said.
He further informed that a Liquid Medical Oxygen tank with a capacity to hold 20,000 litres will be set up at the new premises.
“This will be one of the biggest facilities with liquid oxygen. Right now, we have enough oxygen trolleys at GMC and spare trolleys are also kept ready through Scoop Oxygen, which supplies to GMC. So, we have more than required supply as of now,” he said.
