Passengers of a KTC bus heading to Molcornem-Quepem went through some anxious moments after a fire in the driver’s cabin on Monday evening.
An alert KTC driver, Custodio Carvalho, who noticed smoke billowing up from the cabin, immediately switched off the engine. At the time, the bus had reached Rawanfond.
Even as the passengers started alighting from the bus, the driver started fire fighting operation. He used water from bottles and fire extinguisher minimizing the damage, before the fire brigade reached the spot. The bus had left the Margao bus stand at 6.05 pm and the incident occurred within minutes when the vehicle reached near the military camp, Rawanfond.
