In a minor reshuffle effected in the State Cabinet, newly inducted minister Rajendra Arlekar was today allotted three portfolios “ Forest, Panchayats and Environment -- two held by Alina Saldanha and one by Dayanand Mandrekar.
The Dhavalikar brothers, however, managed to keep their major portfolios intact with the exception of the Non-conventional Energy which has been allotted to Milind Naik. The portfolio was earlier held by Sudin.Alina Saldanha has been stripped of her Environment and Forest portfolios which have been allotted to Arlekar but now holds charge of Science and Technology,
Rural Development and Museum.
Dayanand Mandrekar’s Panchayats portfolio is also given to Arlekar while two portfolios of Archives and Archaeology and Rural Development which were earlier with Mickky Pacheco, have been allotted to Mandrekar and Saldanha respectively.
Milind Naik had also to do away with his Information and Publicity portfolio, which Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar kept with him.
Speaking to The Goan, Arlekar said, “I will work towards betterment of the portfolios that have been allotted to me.”
Alina, however, refused to comment saying, “let the news be announced officially”.
