Art & music fest during Christmas: Goa says no

PANAJI: The State Level Permissions Committee which met on Wednesday has sought that a permission seeker, who wished to hold an ‘art and music' festival at Candolim during the crucial Christmas week choose a different time to hold the festival.
Sources present for the meeting informed that the small scale festival which claimed it would expect around 4,000 footfalls was nonetheless asked to examine whether it would be possible to hold it at any time other than the peak tourist season of the year in view of the congestion that could be caused on account of the crowds at that time of the year.
Meanwhile, another music festival that seeks to be held in Vagator across three days has been asked to submit an application before September 25 after an earlier application was returned seeking that it be modified.
Sunburn, once given along the shores of Goa, will in all likelihood not be held in Goa this year as well with the festival organisers having already announced that the festival will be held on the outskirts of Pune.
Popular DJ Martin Garrix who is scheduled to be in Goa between December 27 and 30 in Goa is expected to perform at Sunburn in Pune on December 31.
