Vasco-based artist Vinod Naik on Saturday offered a 6-foot portrait of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Ravindra Bhavan on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti.
The portrait was offered by Naik to Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Jayant Jadhav and others at a function organised by Ravindra Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was his role model and hence, he decided to make a life-sized portrait and offer it to the Ravindra Bhavan.
"I appeal to people to follow the footsteps of Chhtrapati Shivaji and the youths should imbibe his qualities. Chhtrapati Shivaji was a leader of inspiration and due to which he will be remembered by the people forever," said Naik.
Jadhav said people should follow the ideology of Shivaji because he was not only a king but a great administrator who ensured that all his policies were free and fair.
"Shivaji was also believed to be the founder of naval warfare and also worked hard for the betterment of society during his times. We must get inspired by his thoughts and follow his ideas. If we put those ideas in practice, we may see a better present and an excellent future," said Jadhav.
