Arun Bhat heads Canacona Lions
CANACONA: Arun Sagun Bhat was installed as the new president of Canacona Lions for the year 2016-17.
Bhat was administered the oath by the Lions district 317 vice-district governor Monica S at the installation ceremony organised at Poinguinim.
Monica referred Bhat as the centennial president of Canacona Lions, as Lions International is entering 100th year of its existence in 2017.
Earlier, Monica also administered oath to secretary Raghuvendra Bhat and treasurer Dr Villas Pawaskar, membership chairman Gopinath Desai and Board of Directors consisting of 12 members.
Toppers from Canacona institutions (first three in SSC), HSSC Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational and BA and BCom were felicitated. Agriculturist Ajit Pai was also honoured. Region chairperson Mario Fernandes, zone chairperson Dayanand Desai, past district governor Dr Hiremath and others were present.
