MARGAO
Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat had created a flutter in political circles when he had pointed out that he had consulted the Almighty before taking the decision to return back to the BJP fold in September last year.
Little over eight months now in the BJP and the Margao MLA on Thursday told scribes to ask the Almighty when exactly he would be inducted in the Pramod Sawant-led Cabinet.
In fact, Kamat looked up in the sky and raised his fingers to suggest to the scribes that they may put the question of his induction in the Pramod Sawant Cabinet.
When he was about to leave the Margao Municipal garden after inaugurating the renovated children’s park, a scribe questioned Kamat when he would be inducted in the Cabinet. Kamat looked up in the sky with his fingers and remarked “ask him and he will tell”.
His remark evoked laughter from his close aides, supporters and scribes too as a smiling Kamat left the venue.
It would be nine months on June 14 since Kamat along with seven other Congress turncoats, including heavyweight Aleixo Sequeira had quit the Congress party to embrace the ruling BJP. At the time the eight-member Congress group joined the ruling party, speculations were rife that both Digambar and Aleixo may find Cabinet berths in the Pramod Sawant government.
Since then, speculations have been rife that the duo may get a Cabinet berth, with even Chief Minister Pramod Sawant not ruling out the possibility of the rejig in his Cabinet.
