Anjuna police book accused for intimidation and vandalism

An extortion and criminal intimidation case has been registered by the Anjuna Police following a complaint by a property owner alleging threats, unlawful demand for money and damage to his property at Assagao.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Kunal Lulla, partner of Volare Estates LLP, owner of property bearing Survey No. 119/1-A at Assagao.
In his complaint, Lulla stated that on February 19 he received a phone call from a person identified as Vikram, a resident of Bendwada, Sanguem, who allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh from him.
The accused reportedly threatened to demolish the compound wall of the Assagao property if the amount was not paid and allegedly put the complainant under fear of death.
Police said that the following day, on February 20, Vikram’s associates – identified as Deepak and Sadiq, along with others – allegedly arrived at the property and damaged the compound wall.
The complainant has estimated the loss at approximately Rs 50,000.
When members of the complainant’s staff objected to the alleged act of vandalism, the accused persons are said to have threatened them with dire consequences, including threats to kill.
Based on the complaint, an offence has been registered under Sections 308(4), 324(4), and 351(3) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police informed that notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act has been issued to the accused persons.
