VASCO:
A case of assault, theft, and damage to water sports equipment has been reported at Utorda beach on November 24.
According to Verna police, Helcino Fernandes of Godinho Vaddo, Majorda, filed a police complaint stating that the accused, identified as Melban Fernandes and his mother, Benedicta, both from Majorda, along with unidentified staff members of Benedicta Fernandes, allegedly assaulted Henzil Da Silva, a labourer employed by the complainant.
During the altercation, they allegedly snatched Da Silva’s gold chain.
Helcino Fernandes also alleged that the accused also caused extensive damage to his water sports equipment. Two jetskis were rendered non-functional, and a banana ride tube was punctured using a screwdriver, resulting in an estimated total loss of Rs 40 lakh. Additionally, Melban Fernandes is accused of snatching Helcino Fernandes’ mobile phone during the incident.
The Verna Police have registered a case under Sections 324(5), 115(2), and 134 read with 3(5) of the BNS Act. PSI Nikhil Dessai of Verna Police Station is conducting further investigations into the matter.
