Worker arrested in Paroda murder case

A worker has been arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of a 57-year-old woman at Paroda-Quepem.

According to police reports, Mafilla Fernandes of Aquem Baixo filed a complaint stating that on November 21 sometime between 12.40 pm and 2 pm, an unknown person murdered her mother, Ubaldina Braganca (57) of Moddemwado-Paroda and further decamped with her gold chain and cash.

During police investigation, it was revealed that a contractor Gopal Rawant of Shivpur- Madhya Pradesh had engaged a worker at an under-construction site at Paroda and the labourer, Ramkumar Rawat of Morena- Madhya Pradesh, who was entrusted with work, was absconding from the site.

With the help of electronic surveillances, Rawat was identified and his activities were monitored.

It was revealed that the accused had gone to Margao and had fled to Madhya Pradesh in a train from Margao railway station. A police team headed by PSI Gautam Shetkar was deputed to Morena Madhya Pradesh and with the assistance of Sabalgarh Police Station, apprehended the accused and bought him to the Quepem police station.

During interrogation, the accused disclosed having committed the crime and he was later placed under arrested in the crime.

The accused was produced before JMFC Margao and was remanded to 14 days in police custody.

Further investigation is in progress by PI Arjun Sangodkar under the supervision of SDPO Quepem Sagar Ekoskar and overall supervision of SP South Sunita Sawant.
