A picnic spot developed in the village became the subject of discussions at the gram sabha of Assolna village Panchayat on Sunday, with members asking the Sarpanch to lodge a complaint with the cyber-crime cell to track down the sender of fake ID post doing rounds on the social media.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Xavier Almeida discussed the issue after members drew attention of the chair to a social media post tarnishing the image of the Panchayat for granting permission for the picnic spot in lieu of monetary consideration.
The Sarpanch clarified at the meeting that the Panchayat has only granted provision NOC for the owner, and that too for a bar and restaurant, making it clear that the Panchayat has not granted any permission for the pool developed inside the picnic spot.
Given that that someone had uploaded the post on a fake ID, the gram sabha has now decided to approach the Cyber-crime cell to investigate the matter and track down the miscreant who uploaded the post to tarnish the image of the Panchayat body.
The Sarpanch further assured the members that the Panchayat would verify records whether any permission was granted for the development of a pool at the picnic spot in the past, saying the Panchayat would follow the due process of law in
the matter.
