Audit business, Mahadev to Co-op societies

Minister for Cooperation Mahadev Naik has cautioned cooperative societies that they could face action if they fail to audit their business.
Naik was addressing a gathering after launching the 40th branch of VPK Urban Co-operative Credit Society at Bethora. Others present at the function included VPK chairman Hiru Khedekar, asst Registrar of Cooperative Societies Rajesh Parwar, Betoda Nirankal Sarpanch Punam Samant and local panch Manda Gaude.
“It is observed that many societies don’t adhere to the rules of auditing their business. They should do it. Action will definitely be taken against those societies who do not audit their business,” the minister warned.
Naik also emphasised on the importance of training employees in the cooperative sector.
“If employees take proper training, the cooperative sector can become a catalyst for a progressive state. If no training is given to employees, the loss is definite. The employees should also know to gain trust of customers and only then, this area will make progress,” he said.
Mahadev Naik informed that there are about 4,100 cooperative societies, with 11 lakh people as members.
“Earlier, people were not interested in jobs with cooperative societies, but now the situation has changed and they pay well,” the minister said.
“Though there is future in the cooperative sector, people still look for government jobs,” he added.
Hiru Khedekar informed about the performance of VPK and how it has benefited shareholders and customers.
“We have reached a stage where we have won the trust of our customers. Going forward, we will continue giving our best service and good returns to investors,” he said. Punam Samant also spoke on the occasion.
