Awareness prog ongoing in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: Lok Mahiti Abhiyaan, a three-day project launched by Letter’s Notice Unit of Information and Broadcasting department of the Central government with an aim to make the public aware of schemes of the Central government, was inaugurated at Bicholim by the Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) Chairperson Satish Gaonkar, on Sunday.

BMC deputy chairperson Ajit Birje and councillors Medha Bordekar, Vijaykumar Natekar, Sudan Govekar and Kundan Falari, assistant director of Letter’s Notice Unit Panaji, Balaji Prabhugaonkar, officials from Kolhapur Samarjit Thakur and Vilas Tabke and retired principal Raghunath Gawas were present.

Gaonkar said the abhiyaan will help downtrodden segments of the community to avail different schemes of the Central government. Raghunath Gawas also spoke on the occasion.

Prof Subhash Jaan compered the programme, while Samarjir Thakur proposed the vote of thanks.

The concluding function will be held on February 16.
