Calling Union Minister for Ayush and North Goa MP, Shripad Naik a “poster boy” for Ayurveda, North Goa District Congress President Vijay Bhike on Friday said the minister has become active in the election year and begun organising ayurveda camps all over the State.

“Shripad Naik is a good person and therefore people have elected him for four terms. But we find that he becomes active only in the election year. Now, he has started organizing ayurveda camps with his posters fixed on every street. He has become a poster boy of ayurveda,” Bhike said.

The North Goa District Congress President was addressing a news conference along with other members in the party office in Mapusa.

Bhike said the North Goa MP has been using Bahujan Samaj to harvest votes for the last four terms, but had failed to do anything worthwhile for the community.

“In the name of Bahujans, he has only grabbed votes of the people but did nothing for the community. The minister should make a report card of what are his achievements in the last 20 years and how many Bahujans he has managed to employ,” he said.

The District Congress chief said that Shripad had adopted the village of Ibrampur in Pernem taluka, as an ideal village but failed to bring any changes in the area.

“An ideal village means basic facilities, including education, power and health, should be made available to the locals there. But after inauguration, nothing has been done in the village except the inaugural board,” he said.

He said after adopting the village almost three-and-half years have elapsed, but the MP has failed to do anything for the village.

Bhike said that Congress party will go to the village and meet the people and conduct an inquiry of what the North Goa MP has actually achieved.

“The Congress will conduct an inquiry and submit a report to the public about Shripad’s achievements in the village,” he said.
