The High Court had earlier directed that a status quo be maintained, while directing that notices be issued to all the respondents. When the second petition came up for hearing on Tuesday, the court was informed that status quo was granted in a similar case earlier. “Hence, until the returnable date, the parties shall maintain status quo,” the court said in its order. Their failure led to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) issuing demolition notices. The fishermen are battling to save their structures against the demolition order of the GCZMA which had issued notices asking them to prove their structures are legal. However, none of the inhabitants could produce any documentary proof.
